Biography | Mr. Wintringham has 20 years of experience in the chemical industry as a Research and Development Chemist, Supervisor of Information Services and a Technical Editor of Paper. He taught high school biology, general and earth science, chemistry, physics and geology for 23 years. For two years, he was an Adjunct Professor of Earth Science Education at Kean and Rutgers Universities, specializing in consulting and exploration of economic mineralogy and earth science education. He is an author and editor of several books and technical papers including, “Handbook for a Week with Maine Minerals," “Mineralogy of the Franklin Limestone," “New Jersey Oriented Earth Science – A Selected Bibliography," “Maine Checklists and Guidebooks – The Collector’s Literature: A Review and Personal Evaluation” and frequently presents papers and workshops at the New Jersey Science Convention as well as lecturing at various mineral clubs and adult groups. Mr. Wintringham has received numerous honors and awards including the “Distinguished Service New Jersey Earth Science Education Presidential Award," New Jersey State Teacher’s Association, “Outstanding Earth Science Teacher," National Association of Geoscience Teachers and an Elected Honored Member of the Leidy Microscopical Society. He is deemed an Emeritus from the American Chemical Society. Mr. Wintringham is Director of the Pennsylvania Chapter, Friends of Mineralogy and a member of various organizations including the Mineralogical Society of America, Maine Geological Survey and a Legion of Honor Member, Society of Mining Engineers. He received an A.B. in Chemistry and an M.S. in Geology from Cornell University. He has four children and five grandchildren. His hobby is micromineralogy. |
