Career Accomplishments | Teaching experience includes 11 years in small rural schools, teaching all grade levels; 37 years with the Plano Independent School District of Plano, Texas. During these years, 12 were spent in grade four, 5 years in Title I Reading and 20 as Reading Supervisor for the district. Summer school programs and Head Start were directed. The development of curriculum materials during those years included gifted activities, dyslexia guidelines and teaching ideas, and curriculum guides in the area of Language Arts. 11 years were spent as a Reading Recovery Teacher Leader, in which program 280 teachers were trained. Adjunct Professor duties includes 4 universities. After retiring from the public schools, 2 years were spent as a Visiting Professor at Texas University for Women in Denton, Texas. Her volunteer work includes service as facilitator in Journey of Hope, a program for families that have lost a family member to death, gifting of books to low income students through Plano Retired Teachers Organization, and Grade 3 Sunday School Teacher at Prairie Creek Baptist Church in Plano |
