Career Accomplishments | In 1986 brought first successful sample preparation robot to the Air Force Institute of Operational Health to prepare oil samples for PCB analysis; In 1996 expanded robotic sample preparation to micro liquid-liquid extraction and solid phase extraction of drinking water samples for pesticide and PCB analysis; In 1999 oversaw the $750,000. upgrade of all Chemistry Division analytical instruments for Y2K compliance; Also inherited a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) upgrade for Y2K compliance; In 2003 implemented a new Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) that was geared to Environmental and Occupational Chemistry Analysis to replace the existing generic LIMS, saving over $10,000. in yearly maintenance service contract; From 1997 to present, have grown the Laboratory Automation Function from a single chemist working part-time as a LIMS administrator to a 3-person function (one full-time chemist and 2 full-time programmers); The Laboratory Automation Function now provides all the Chemistry Division's information technology support, including document management, billing, payment of contract labs, and interfacing with Air Force (Command Core) and DOD (Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Reporting System (DOEHRS) repositories for occupational and environmental health |
