Career Accomplishments	Background in residue stabilization and utilization, international activities: Site surveys were made at 9 waste-to-energy facilities in Germany, Italy, France, Sweden and Switzerland (as well as to 6 facilities in the U.S.); These surveys were designed to provide background information on problems and optimum procedures for ash handling/disposal and practical prevention of metal corrosion/erosion of waterwalls and superheaters in similar facilities; He managed a $1.1 million project designed to demonstrate production of lightweight aggregate from combustion residues; He served as co-chairman of the $1.2 million ASME/US Bureau of Mines "Investigative Program on Vitrification of Combustion Residues and By-product Utilization"
Work History	After more than 35 years at ABB-Combustion Engineering (now ALSTOM Power), he retired from a rewarding career in consulting and research and development; Solving customer problems relating to fossil-fuel boilers, solid waste incinerators and paper mill chemical recovery units, as well as biomass-fired fluid bed units, has been his principal activity; These efforts, generally focused on the practical prevention of component wastage included: corrosion mechanisms, materials selection, deposit reduction, operational changes to improve performance; Other boiler related activities included development of processes for: ash utilization, toxic emissions control
