Farmingdale, N.Y. – William S. Meisel, of Tarzana, California, has recently been recognized as a Professional of the Year by Strathmore's Who's Who Registry for his outstanding contributions and achievements in the field of Media.
About William S. Meisel
Dr. William Meisel has over 30 years experience in commercial applications of advanced speech and natural language technology. He is President of TMA Associates, which does consulting on advanced speech technology products, market analysis, business planning, product design/development and financing. Dr. Meisel is also Editor of the monthly newsletter Speech Strategy News as well as Executive Director of the Applied Voice Input Output Society (AVIOS), a nonprofit industry organization. He recently published a book for the general public, "The Software Society: Cultural and Economic Impact," and blogs on subjects introduced by the book at www.thesoftwaresociety.com. Dr. Meisel holds six patents including "Use of indentification codes in the handling and management of communications", US Patent # 7,197,640. He is the author of over 60 publications including a textbook "Computer-Oriented Approaches to Pattern Recognition", the aforementioned "The Software Society: Cultural and Economic Impact" as well as technical and marketing articles. He is the Editor and a Contributor to "VUI Visions: Expert Views on Effective Voice User Interface Design", "Speech in the User Interface: Lessons from Experience." Dr. Meisel is the Program Organizer for the Mobile Voice Conference . Dr. Meisel founded and ran a speech recognition company for 10 years. Prior to that, he was the manager of the Computer Science Division of an engineering company and Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at USC where he taught courses on artificial intelligence and pattern recognition. Dr. Meisel has a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from Caltech and a Master's degree and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California. He has been named a Top Ten Leader in Speech by Speech Technology Magazine.
