About Patrick A. Heelan

Patrick A. Heelan was born in Dublin, Ireland. He has received degrees from University College Ireland, St. Stanislaus College and the Milltown Institute of Theology and Philosophy in Ireland as well at St. Louis University in Missouri and the Leuven University in Belgium. Dr. Heelan is the William A. Gaston Professor of Philosophy at Georgetown University. He is the author of 2 books, 45 book chapters and over 100 articles. His expertise is in the Philosophy of Science. He is an Honorary Member of Phi Beta Kappa. He is also a member of the American Philosophical Association, the Philosophy of Science Association, Sigma XI, the British Society for the Philosophy of Science, the Metaphysical Society of America, the American Catholic Philosophical Association, the Society for the Social Study of Science, the Society for Phenomenological and Existential Philosophy, the New York Academy of Science, the Seismological Society of America and the European Society for Science, Society and Technology. In his free time he enjoys nature walks.
