Career AccomplishmentsLearned to read music at age 3 by sitting by her sister Helen as she practiced the piano. As requested, each time she stopped she would point to the music where she would start to play, and by watching where she placed her hands, learned to read music. By age 5 she played piano prelude music for Primary Conference. She played her first professional job as a violinist at age 11, was concertmistress of youth orchestra and concertmistress of University of Utah Symphony for 3 years. Compositions, many of them award winning, include a cantata, choral, children's, popular songs, arrangements, and solos for piano and violin. The Ruth Gatrell Singers give several concerts of her original music each year
