He is particularly proud of having built a giant Coca-Cola plant in Jundiai some 45 miles from San Paulo. This plant is so immense it can supply Coca-Cola to 30 million people. It has received the world's highest quality control awards. He and his associates took the family business public in 1993 and changed the name from Panamerican Investment Co., Inc. to Panamerican Beverages, Inc. (PB). The family business had gone from being unknown to being the world's third largest Coca-Cola bottling organization. In 1998 "Panamco" was named, for the third year in a row, one of the "100 Best Managed Companies in the World". Unfortunately, since then Panamco has suffered from the severe economic depression in Latin America. On April 28, 2003, Coco-Cola Femsa, of Monterrey, Mexico acquired Panamco for the sum of $U.S. 3.6. billion dollars

When he arrived in Colombia in 1951 the family business consisted of 5 small plants in Colombia, 3 in Mexico and 2 in Brazil with about 600 employees. Most plants were marginally profitable because of low sales.
