Career Accomplishments	US Co-Director, International Joint Commission (IJC) Upper Great Lakes Study, a 5 year (2006-12), $15M study looking for sustainable ways of operating the Great Lakes under various climate conditions, managing 150+ scientists in 10 separate areas including climate change, hydro-ecological studies, recreational boating, commercial navigation, hydropower, municipal and industrial water supply, shoreline erosion and coastal flooding, hydrology and hydraulics, data management and public participation; Recently completed a 5 year study as Co-Director of the Lake Ontario-St. Lawrence Study for the IJC (2000-06), a $20M study with Canada; Has been at the Corps of Engineers Institute for Water Resources (IWR) for 30 years and is Senior International Water Advisor; Started his career at the Corps' North Atlantic Division working on the North Atlantic Water Resources study (1969-72) and the Northeast US Water Supply Study (1972-77); Co-Chair of the first UN IPCC Water Resources Climate Impact Group (1989-92) and lead author for IPCC II (1994-97) and IPCC III (1998-2001); Has served as Science Attaché to the US UNESCO Ambassador in Paris (2004); Served as Senior Advisor to Iraq's Ministry of Irrigation (2003); Current work through ICIWaRM involves river basin modeling, training and technical advice via Dept. of State, UNESCO, ISAID, World Bank and the Global Water Partnership to Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Brazil, Peru, Ukraine and several middle eastern countries; Advises National Defense University on water and environmental security issues and the UN Secretary General's Global Advisory Board on water and climate issues; Co-Chair, UNESCO Workgroup on Integrated River Basin Management Guidelines (2007-present); Member, UNECE Working Group on Climate Adaptation, 2008-present; Co-Chair, Council on Environmental Quality "Integrated Water Resources Management Adaptation to Climate Change"
